Jose Mourinho has been growing increasingly upset with the lack of transfer activity at Manchester United and has lashed out at the club in pre-season.

Having endured a trophyless campaign last season, confidence is low this term as well and the board are already looking for alternatives should they decide to terminate the Portuguese tactician, the Sun report.

While United aren’t actively working to remove Mourinho from his post just yet, they have already identified former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane as a prime candidate to replace him should it come to that.

Zidane enjoyed a hugely successful two and a half years as Madrid boss, winning nine trophies and is currently unattached.
