Maurizio Sarri wants to renew acquaintances with Matias Vecino, the midfielder he previously managed at Empoli.

According to the Evening Standard, the Chelsea boss has ordered the Premier League side’s transfer team to open talks with the Uruguay international, who currently plies his trade with Inter Milan.

Reportedly, Blues representatives met Nerazzurri officials regarding the deal during Saturday’s International Champions Cup pre-season friendly between the two sides.

Vecino, who is valued at around £31million, has been touted as a midfield partner for new recruit Jorginho and a man who can compliment marathon man N’Golo Kante.
