France World Cup winner Olivier Giroud wants to stay at Chelsea and fight for his place next season amid rumours linking him with Marseille.

According to the Daily Mail, the former Arsenal striker is content enough to remain in west London and resist the temptation of holding talks with the Olympians.

Giroud, 31, who arrived at the Blues in January on an 18-month contract from the Gunners, did not produce his very best form for Antonio Conte’s then charges but is still apparently part of new plans under Maurizio Sarri.

Even if the Frenchman does stay, Chelsea are expected to continue their pursuit of Juventus attacker Gonzalo Higuain.
