SOS to SMS: Chelsea ‘monitoring’ Lazio star Sergej Milinkovic-Savic

Many clubs have lodged an interest in Sergej Milinkovic-Savic without pulling the trigger but Chelsea are now waiting to pounce, reports The Independent.

The fee wanted by Lazio – in the region of 100 million – has put several clubs off, including Manchester United, and the Blues have not yet acted for the same reason. But they have been handed fresh hope as the Serbian is thought to favour a move to London.

It is understood that Maurizio Sarri’s side will react should another team make a concrete offer for the 23-year-old attacking midfielder, who scored 12 goals in 35 Serie A appearances last season.

Though Sarri is confident of keeping Eden Hazard and Willian – whom have attracted interest from Real Madrid and Barcelona respectively – Milinkovic-Savic is the obvious back-up plan should either or both leave.
