GONZALO HIGUAIN

Chelsea are plotting a £53million swoop for the Juventus striker, according to the Evening Standard.

New boss Maurizio Sarri is keeping tabs on Serie A, with sources in Italy suggesting officials will be meeting with Higuain’s representatives this week.

The Blues have previously been linked with the Bianconeri forward, who has enjoyed two prolific seasons at Turin Stadium following his switch from Napoli in the summer of 2016.

The paper adds that the West London club are closing in on another Juventus player, defender Daniele Rugani.

MATEO KOVACIC

Man City have pulled out of the race to sign the Real Madrid midfielder, reports Sky Sports News.

The Sky Blues are on the hunt for a central midfielder after their expected move for Jorginho fell through, with the Italy international signing fro Chelsea instead.

Kovacic – a key player for Croatia during their run to the World Cup final – is one player City have monitored but Los Blancos’ asking price of £80m (Dh385m) is considered too high.
