Barcelona have announced the signing of Sevilla defender Clement Lenglet for 35.9million euros (£31.7million).

The 23-year-old Frenchman has agreed a five-year deal with Barca after the La Liga champions activated the release clause in his Sevilla contract.

Barca announced in a statement: “Barcelona have paid the buy-out clause for Clement Lenglet who is now no longer a Sevilla player. The clause’s value is 35.9 million euros.

“The player will sign a contract with the club for the next five seasons until 30 June 2023, with a buy-out clause valued at 300 million euros.”
