Yassin Fekir, the younger brother of Liverpool target Nabil, has signed a new two-year deal with Lyon.

Attacking midfielder Yassin has agreed a contract extension with the Ligue 1 side after his previous deal expired last month.

Nabil Fekir, who is currently part of France’s World Cup squad, appeared close to a move to Anfield ahead of the tournament in Russia only for OL to pull the plug on the deal amid reports of a chronic knee injury.

“Transfer negotiations with Liverpool and Nabil Fekir for the transfer of the captain of OL have not succeeded and Olympique Lyonnais have decided to put an end to this negotiation tonight at 8pm,” Lyon said in a statement at the time.

The 24-year-old was being courted by Liverpool as a replacement for Philippe Coutinho, who joined Barcelona in January.
