Liverpool have entered the race to sign Aston Villa starlet Jack Grealish, The Sun reports.

The Merseysiders are keen to bring the 22-year-old midfielder to Anfield this summer, though Tottenham are also heavily linked with his signature.

The Midlanders are all-but resigned to losing their star asset after Steve Bruce’s men fell at the last hurdle in the Championship play-off final and failed to secure promotion to the Premier League.

Liverpool could take advantage of the fact that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has reportedly been haggling over the player’s transfer fee, with the north London club preparing a bid in the region of £20million.

However, Villa value their homegrown product at twice that amount – with the Reds being apparently willing to fork out a lot more cash to secure his signature.
