France superstar Antoine Griezmann is to finally reveal whether he is staying at Atletico Madrid or moving to Barcelona on Thursday night in a Spanish TV special called “The Decision”.

Griezmann, 27, has long been chased by La Liga champions Barca – who have been looking to take advantage of the €100 million (Dh428m) release clause in his current deal. Los Rojiblancos, however, have tabled a new contract offer that would remove this exit route and put in place a prohibitive price of termination.

The forward promised he would make a decision before France’s World Cup opener against Australia on Saturday and a tweet sent out earlier on Thursday trailed his impending announcement. it featured a pre-recorded interview with Griezmann at his home in the Spanish capital during which he teased his choice.

“You’re fed up with all the talk – am I going, am I staying, how much they will pay me, how much they won’t pay me,” Griezmann said. “But the truth is what I am going to say now…”

The video then fades to black.

This move is a repeat of NBA superstar LeBron James’ live show – that had the same name – by ESPN from 2010 during which he revealed his much-anticipated move to Miami Heat.

Griezmann’s television special will be shown at 23:15 UAE time.
