JAN OBLAK

Real Madrid could raid city rivals Atletico and sign the Slovenian star, according to AS.

The 25-year-old, who claimed the coveted Ricardo Zamora goalkeeping trophy last term after conceding just 22 goals in 37 La Liga outings, has established himself as the best shot-stopper in the division.

Real’s long-term pursuit of Thibaut Courtois has failed to progress, making Oblak a more realistic alternative and successor to Keylor Navas – who was a favourite under Zinedine Zidane – but may not convince new boss Julen Lopetegui in the same way.

The sticking point over a deal for Oblak would, however, be the size of the transfer fee involved given he has a €100m release clause (Dh 431m) attached to his contract.

Bernabeu-bound? Jan Oblak.

TOBY ALDERWEIRELD

The Tottenham star has revealed he is happy to stay at the north London club next season, following reports linking him with Manchester United.

The Belgian centre-back, who is set to be central to his country’s World Cup bid, told journalists at the national team’s training camp that he would be open to extend his stay with the Whites.

Alderweireld, whose contract expires in 2019 but does contain an option to extend that deal by a further 12 months, is still a key part of Mauricio Pochettino’s plans moving forward.

However, given he is 29, the former Southampton star may feel he wants to seize the opportunity to make one last big move while he is at the peak of his powers.
