Manchester United’s pursuit of a new left-back has seen them make contact with the agents of long-term target Alex Sandro of Juventus, according to reports.

Sandro, 27, has emerged as a €50 million+ (Dh214.1m) option for Jose Mourinho’s Premier League runners-up. This follows the continued struggles of Luke Shaw at Old Trafford, plus the desire to add serious competition for ageing England international Ashley Young.

Gazzetta dello Sport stated that the Red Devils this week registered interest with the representatives of the player, who was not selected for Brazil’s World Cup 2018 squad.

But big-spending Paris Saint-Germain remain in the background, plus Juve hope to initiate talks about extending a deal that runs out in 2020 and is worth €2.8m (Dh12m) per season.
