Chelsea defender Marcos Alonso has emerged as a summer target for Barcelona, Goal reports.

The cultured Madrid-born left-back, who started his career in the Los Blancos youth set-up before making a solitary first-team La Liga outing with the club back in the 2009-10 campaign, is reportedly being viewed as a long-term replacement for Gerard Pique – who turns 32 next year.

Versatile Alonso, who can play anywhere on the left-hand side and centrally, has impressed since arriving at Stamford Bridge from Fiorentina in the summer of 2016 and is sitting pretty on a contract until 2021.

The 27-year-old, who earned his first Spanish international cap this year and is set to go to the World Cup in Russia, is not a man the Blues will want to sell while his Real Madrid connection is not thought to put Blaugrana off of signing him.
