MARCOS ALONSO

While Chelsea’s season has not lived up to expectations one constant has been the impressive form of the 27-year-old Spaniard. Now the former Bolton Wanderers star is being lined up by Barcelona who, according to The Guardian, are said to be lining up a swoop on the recommendation of one Lionel Messi. The Catalan club had been considering going for Bayern Munich’s David Alaba but Messi reckons Alonso is a better fit. No arguing with Lionel.

Jan Oblak is in demand

JAN OBLAK

Everyone it seems is in for the Atlético Madrid goalkeeper and the latest Premier League club to express their interest are Arsenal, keen to find a ready replacement for the fading Petr Cech. According to The Guardian, the 25-year-old Slovenia star will be available if the Spanish giants are able to pry Thibaut Courtois from his current home at Chelsea this summer. The Blues do have Willy Caballero as back-up.

MAURO ICARDI

The 25-year-old could be joining Alvaro Morata in the Chelsea front-line next season, according to Argentine journalist Fernando Czyz. He claims the Blues have made a bid for the Inter Milan striker. “Mauro Icardi has received the first formal offer to leave Inter,” Czyz tweeted yesterday. “Chelsea made a bid of £55 million (Dh285.6m) for the Argentine forward to move to London.” Morata is yet to fully find his feet at Chelsea so Icardi, who has scored 22 goals in 24 Serie A games this season, could be the perfect solution. Icardi has a buyout clause of £96m (Dh498.5m).

Hector Bellerin is staying put.

HECTOR BELLERIN

There is a lot of speculation around a possible move to Napoli from Emirates Stadium for the Spanish defender, but according to his agent the 23-year-old isn’t going anywhere. “There’s no contact for Bellerin, no-one has sought me out,” Albert Botines, told Radio CRC. “He’s happy, he’s recently renewed and he’s playing consistently. It’s true that every player always wants to grow, but right now it’s difficult [to see him leaving].”

Max Meyer could be on the move to Merseyside

MAX MEYER

Liverpool have received a boost in their pursuit of Schalke’s Max Meyer, according to The Daily Mirror. The 22-year-old is out of contract this summer and the Reds are monitoring his situation, with the attacking midfielder apparently having turned down two new contract offers from his current side. Schalke president Clemens Tonnies has also claimed a planned meeting was called off. “I had an appointment with Max and his advisor, which was cancelled by his agent on short notice,” he told Bild.
