Though the winter transfer window just passed and the summer window is still months down the road, that hasn’t stopped the chatter of players potentially being on the move.

Across the world of football, there remains plenty of activity and stories that have football fans talking.

Here, we look at five potential transfer candidates that could be heading elsewhere when the market reopens in June.

JAMIE VARDY

Everton have made Leicester striker Jamie Vardy their number one transfer target this summer, according to the Mirror.

The 31-year-old attacker has enjoyed huge success at King Power Stadium, scoring crucial goals that earned them the Premier League title in 2016.

The Toffees have been chasing a marquee forward all season after failing to land a suitable replacement following the departure of Romelu Lukaku to Man United.

Although Vardy is on a bumper contract at the Foxes, money is not meant to be an issue for Everton as they look to strengthen their options in attack following a mixed campaign under Sam Allardyce.

MAX MEYER

Atletico Madrid are considering a move to sign Scalke midfielder Max Meyer, Mundo Deportivo reports.

The 22-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and is expected to leave Arena AufSchalke, with Arsenal and Barcelona also expressing an interest in the German.

With Atletico down to 19 first-team players following the mid-season departures of Yannick Carrasco and Nicolas Gaitan, Meyer has emerged as an alternative summer target for Diego Simeone’s men.

Dubbed the new Toni Kroos, Meyer is a versatile midfielder who can play anywhere through the centre of the park – as well as an ability to perform well out wide.
