Barcelona agree Antoine Griezmann deal, Jack Wilshere ready to quit Arsenal

There are a few months yet until the summer transfer window comes along but there’s still plenty to talk about as clubs lay the ground work for potential deals once the current campaign is concluded.

There are more than enough stories for football fans to sink their teeth into.

Here’s a look at some potential transfer deals that could go through when the market reopens for business in June.

ANTOINE GRIEZMANN

Barcelona have agreed to sign Antoine Griezmann from Atletico Madrid this summer, according to TV3.

The Catalans are comfortable with meeting the Frenchman’s €100 million buyout clause and the 26-year-old is ready to finally move on from the Madrid outfit.

Griezmann’s arrival could see the departure of Denis Suarez, who has struggled for playing time at Camp Nou this season as it is.

RATING: 8/10

VERDICT

It’s hard to see Griezmann going anywhere else at this point. After scoring all four goals in Atletico Madrid’s win over Leganes on Wednesday night – his second hat-trick in a week – he’s playing almost as if he’s determined to make up Barcelona’s minds for them.

The obvious question is, where will he play? With Lionel Messi gradually assuming a deeper role as an attacking midfielder though, there may be the opportunity to play in a front three with Luis Suarez and Ousmane Dembele or Philippe Coutinho while  the Brazilian can also feature in midfield.

With any potential move to Manchester United seemingly dead in the water, this seems like Griezmann’s best option.

JACK WILSHERE

Jack Wilshere is considering quitting Arsenal in the summer, the Sun report. After spending part of last season on loan to Bournemouth as he struggled for playing time following his return from injury, the midfielder has this term proved to be one of the team’s better players.

As such, he believes he is deserving of an improved contract or will look to move on from the Emirates Stadium.

RATING: 6/10

VERDICT

Wilshere is definitely one of Arsenal’s best players but he’s been plagued by injuries and needs to have a more consistent run in the team before the club invest even more in him.

However, given the current climate at Arsenal, it’s easy to see the Englishman deciding to move on and work under a different manager and in a different environment.

EMRE CAN

Juventus are set for a meeting with Emre Can’s representatives next week to finalise a deal, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

After missing out on Schalke’s Leon Goretzka to Bayern Munich, Juventus are keen on the German whose contract at Liverpool expires in the summer.

RATING: 6/10

VERDICT

Moving as a free agent, Can should be able to secure a lucrative deal with the Italian champions. It would be a great move for the player who has been good at Liverpool this season but the lure of Juventus and promise of silverware may be too much to resist.
