Manchester City end interest in Leicester star Riyad Mahrez

Manchester City have failed with a last-minute double dip in the transfer market after ending their interest – for now – in Leicester City’s Riyad Mahrez.

City had spent 24 hours locked in negotiations with Leicester for the Algerian winger after splashing 57 million pounds to bring Athletic Bilbao defender Aymeric Laporte to Manchester on Tuesday.

However, it is thought that the Foxes have rejected a fourth and final bid for Mahrez from Pep Guardiola’s men, worth approximately 65 million including a player – whose identity is so far unknown.

The offer did nothing to sway Leicester’s hierarchy and Mahrez is understood to have fallen out with several of his team-mates in his efforts to try and force a move up north.

The 26-year-old is not in the squad for Leicester’s match with Everton on Wednesday night.
