After a humiliating 3-1 defeat at the hands of Swansea City on Tuesday night, Arsenal fans were uplifted by a video on the club’s official website, confirming Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang‘s arrival from Borussia Dortmund.

The video featured Arsene Wenger reflecting on signing the star striker.

When questioned about completing the transfer, the Frenchman said: “Yes, it’s good news. We need people who can give us more offensive power.”

The Arsenal boss went on to rave about the striker’s qualities and how he is set to help the team.

However, the elation for the club’s supporters were short-lived.

As it turns out, the deal wasn’t in fact done and dusted with both clubs still working to get the transfer over the line.

The video was taped in anticipation of the deal being finalised and was quickly deleted from the website but not before it was recorded by viewers and shared on social media since.

Aubameyang is in London and it’s understood that he has already completed a medical in the hope of the transfer being finalised on Wednesday.

However, Dortmund refuse to allow the striker to sign for Arsenal until they secure a replacement.

Olivier Giroud was initially expected to move the other way but a loan move for Michy Batshuayi is now on the cards although that may hinge on Giroud signing for Chelsea.
