Arsenal have launched a first bid for Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the region of €50m, German news outlet Kicker report.

However, that fee falls considerably short of Dortmund’s asking price.

The Bundesliga outfit refuse to sell the 28-year-old for anything less than €60m.

With Alexis Sanchez due to complete his move to Arsenal, Aubameyang is expected to help fill the void left by the Chilean’s departure at the Emirates.

Arsene Wenger has recently comment about the striker’s qualities, hinting at his club’s interest in securing his services.

“Yes [Aubameyang will fit in at Arsenal] because character can be a very positive note.

“Look at the achievements of a player during his career and usually, when a career has been positive, the character has been positive.”
