Kylian Mbappe’s move from PSG has been named the worst-value deal of the transfer window, while Mohamed Salah’s transfer to Liverpool is the best value.

The CIES Football Observatory has released analysis on the deals conducted in the last window, which indicates the French giants got the worst value in Europe’s top-five leagues in signing Mbappe in an initial season-long loan deal that will be made permanent for €180 million next summer.

The 18-year-old, believed to be worth €92.6 from the Observatory’s algorithm, means PSG will overpay by €87.4m in the deal, once add-ons have been taken into consideration.

According to their findings, Liverpool have landed the best bargain in taking Salah from Roma for €50 million – despite his €69.4m value.

The analysis also showed that Ousmane Dembele, bought for €147m by Barcelona, cost over €51.2m more than his fair value fee of €95.8m.

Elsewhere, Manchester City spent €57.5m on Benjamin Mendy – €29m more than his €28.5m value.
