Liverpool midfielder Philippe Coutinho is not happy after his move to Barcelona failed to go through on transfer deadline day, according to Brazil teammate Neymar.

The Paris Saint-Germain forward who move away from Barcelona in a world record fee earlier in August claims Coutinho has been left disappointed by how things unfolded.

“Unfortunately, instead of being a happy time for him [Coutinho], for his family, it’s a moment of anguish, disappointment and sadness,” Neymar told ESPN FC.

Coutinho featured in Brazil’s 2-0 win over Ecuador on Thursday and got on the score sheet as well.

“I like to see him happy because he is a team-mate and a friend that I’ve had for a long time.

“He was rewarded with a goal today, for his and our joy.”

Coutinho’s contract at Liverpool runs until 2022.
