Zlatan Ibrahimovic is expected to put pen to paper on a new deal at Manchester United this week, according to ESPN.

The 35-year-old is currently recovering from a knee ligament injury sustained against Anderlecht in April.

The Swedish international – out of contract since July 1 – has been doing his rehabilitation at United’s AON Training Centre.

It was initially thought he would be ruled out until early 2018.

United boss Jose Mourinho has made no secret of his desire to keep his star striker, who scored 28 goals in all competitions last term.

With the signing of Romelu Lukaku last month, the Red Devils now boast two powerful strikers, with the club active in the Champions League as well as other domestic competitions.
