Arsenal and Manchester United are keen on signing centre-back Daniel Agger from Liverpool.

Liverpool have recently signed Dejan Lovren for £20 million so Agger will have to settle with a bit-part role at Anfield like he did last season. 

The Danish defender has been linked with a move to Barcelona all summer but he would prefer to stay in the UK, which has sparked interest from two of the top teams.

Manchester United need a new centre-back after losing both Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic whereas Arsenal are looking for a replacement for Thomas Vermaelen who is expected to leave the club imminently.
