Marco Asensio and Gianluigi Donnarumma are two of the most impressive young talents at the European Under-21 championships and may be playing together as team-mates in the future, perhaps as early as next season.

The 18-year-old goalkeeper has expressed his desire to leave AC Milan with Real Madrid lodging at interest.

With the Italian out of contract in 2018, he is primed for a big move should he opt for one with the player making it clear that the possibility extending his contract is not off the table.

Asked about Donnarumma ahead of Spain’s U21 showdown with Italy on Tuesday, Asensio said: “He is a young goalkeeper, who has shown that he is a great keeper.

“He has a great future, but he also has a great present.

“If he is prepared or not to play in Real Madrid, I do not decide it.”
