Benfica’s tribute to Manchester United-bound Victor Lindelof

21:25 13/06/2017

Benfica have paid tribute to departing defender Victor Lindelof, who has just been announced as Manchester United’s first signing of this summer.

The Portuguese club wished Lindelof well on Twitter, and put a video of the Swedish defender’s best moments at the club, where Lindelof has been since 2012.

Lindelof will complete his move this week, with the player due to fly to Manchester after Sweden’s friendly against Norway on Tuesday. The 22-year-old will have a medical before his signing is officially confirmed.

It is expected that Lindelof is just the first of many signings Manchester United will make this summer, with the club reportedly close to striking a deal for Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata. They’re also in the hunt for Torino striker Andrea Belotti and are expected to add at least one central midfielder, as well.

However, Lindelof’s arrival likely means the club will drop their pursuit of Burnley defender Michael Keane, a United academy product.
