Borussia Dortmund's Mats Hummels is the main target for Manchester United this summer and they are prepared to pay £16 million for the talented centre back. 

Louis van Gaal is a big admirer of the German but he may struggle to bring him to Old Trafford as they won't be competing in Europe next season.

Meanwhile, Barcelona are also keen on buying the 25-year-old as they need a long-term replacement for club legend Carlos Puyol who retired last season.
