Gerrard, Ronaldo, Zidane: Five transfers that never happened

Some of the best transfer stories are, ironically, ones that don’t come to fruition. Players often end up staying put, landing themselves a new deal in the process or find themselves at a different club altogether.

Take Steven Gerrard’s proposed move to Chelsea, for example, which was on the verge of going through on more than one occasion, before Mr. Liverpool had a change of heart.

Who knows how the careers of Gerrard and Frank Lampard would have turned out had the Liverpudlian joined his England colleague at Chelsea.

Yet Gerrard’s move is only fifth on Kick’s top five transfers that never were.
