Juventus director Pavel Nedved admits the club could be tempted into parting with midfielder Arturo Vidal if they receive a “high bid” for the Chilean international.
Vidal is among Louis van Gaal’s leading transfer targets at Manchester United this summer.
The 27-year-old has repeatedly been asked about a potential move to Old Trafford but has been non-commital, only increasing speculation he could be interested in a move to United.
However, Nedved insists Juve don’t need to sell Vidal – who they bought from Bayern Leverskusen for €10.5 million (Dh52.2m) in 2011 – unless the compensation is substantial.
Nedved said: “We don’t want to sell anyone, especially Vidal.
“Our strategy is clear, we want to keep all our best players, including Vidal and Pogba.
“Certainly, if there was a high bid, we’d have to think about it but we don’t want to sell our champions.”
Reports in Chile were yesterday claiming that United want to make Vidal their second-highest paid player alongside Robin van Persie on £200,000-a-week (Dh1.3m).
Meanwhile, executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward has told Manchester United supporters to “watch this space” as he works with manager Louis van Gaal on securing more summer signings.
“We’ve been working with Louis over several weeks with regards to targets and we’re continuing to move forward on some of those targets,” Woodward told MUTV.
“Louis is assessing what’s going on and there is a lot of work going on, so watch this space.”
