AC Milan, Juventus, and Italy legend Andrea Pirlo could make a surprise appearance in the Australian second tier.
Avondale play in the Victorian Premier League, Australia’s second tier, though they are due to face A-League side Sydney FC in the FFA Cup, the country’s main cup competition.
Italy, AC Milan and Juventus legend Pirlo last played in November 2017 for New York City FC. He would follow in the footsteps of Alessandro del Piero, who played for Sydney FC for two seasons at the end of his career, as another Italian icon to play in Australia.
Avondale have reportedly been keen to make a big-name signing for some time, and consider Pirlo to be the perfect marquee player to have on board for their cup tie, which will take place on September 19.
