Real Madrid custodian Keylor Navas is not worrying too much about his future at the club.

The Costa Rica goalkeeper second fiddle to Thibaut Courtois under previous head coaches Julen Lopetegui and Santiago Solari.

With Zinedine Zidane back, however, his return to the starting line-up was inevitable. He started in Los Blancos’ 2-0 win over Celta Vigo and put on an impressive show. Navas also had a message for those who questioned his discipline in the past few months.

“The people who said that I had trained badly now have to admit [they were wrong] because either they don’t know me or never saw a training session at Valdebebas,” he said, according to Marca.

“Everybody there knows how I train. At the end of the tunnel, there is always light and that’s how I have always worked.

“Now I want to enjoy this and live in the moment. If you think about the future, you lose perspective of the time you are living in.

Navas has had to endure constant speculation of a move away from Madrid

“I work every week to try and be in the coach’s team and today, the sun came out. I always try to contribute, and I will be stronger from this situation and have more desire.”

Navas also maintained that he is happy at the club, but does not have his future with Los Blancos set in stone.

“I haven’t played for a long time and I’m very happy. The future will be seen but I’m happy here and will work as I always do,” he added.

“Thinking about the future distorts the present, as I said, but what is important is that I worked hard and was given an opportunity as a result of it.

“My family and myself are both happy here and we will see what happens in the future, but my desire hasn’t changed and my intention is to fulfil the contract I have.”
