Ballon d’Or holder Luka Modric has reached an agreement to extend his contract at Real Madrid until 2021 and end thoughts about ta switch to Inter Milan, according to reports.

Modric, 33, has excelled for Los Blancos since he recovered from a tricky debut campaign after his arrival from Tottenham in 2012. A bravura 2017/18 campaign saw a fourth Champions League crown added, plus his brilliance during Croatia’s run to World Cup 2018’s final was recognised with a series of individual awards.

Marca have stated that an agreement is now in place to keep the centre midfielder at Santiago Bernabeu until past his 35th birthday. This should rule out a move to Serie A side Inter, who were linked strongly to his signature last summer.

The article further insists that both Modric and Madrid want the player to retire with them.
