Lucas Vasquez claimed that Karim Benzema is showing why he’s the best number nine in the world. The striker announced his return to form with a brace in Real Madrid’s 4-2 win against Espanyol on Sunday.

The player and club needed a performance and a result like this one, as they prepare themselves for a hectic February, filled with challenging fixtures.

Vasquez showered praises on the French international and described how it’s wonderful to play alongside him.

“Benzema is showing that he’s the best No9 in the world,” Lucas Vazquez explained after the match, according to Marca.

“He’s scoring goals, working hard, assisting, linking play up… it is wonderful to play with him.

“It was a great match for the whole team, though, although the red card did cause us to suffer a bit at the end.

“We scored four goals, but the most important thing is that we feel good.”
