Diego Simeone is definitely not a popular figure in the Real Madrid dressing room.

After Luka Modric called out the Atletico Madrid boss for ‘disparaging’ his teammates, it was Thibaut Courtois’ turn to express his frustration.

In a press conference earlier this week, Simeone said: “Courtois left Madrid as the best in the world, when he was with us, he beat Keylor Navas…”

The Belgian did not take these words from his ex-boss kindly and responded saying that Simeone does this to win the favour of his fans.

Following Madrid’s narrow win over Rayo Vallecano, Courtois responded: “Simeone criticises Madrid so as to be popular with his fans. He always does it, attacks Madrid for being the best in the world.”
