Real Madrid target Exequiel Palacios has his heart set on a move to the Bernabeu, according to the player’s agent.

The 20-year-old midfielder is currently gearing up with River Plate for the second leg of a Copa Libertadores final against arch rivals Boca Juniors that has been beset by controversy and crowd problems.

The match, having been moved to Spain, is scheduled for the Bernabeu on Sunday – and if Palacios has his way he’ll be seeing a lot more of that particular stadium very soon.

According to his agent Renato Corsi, Real and River will begin negotiations for the youngster – who would likely compete with fellow anchor Casemiro for playing time – once the final is put to bed.

“Palacios, as a River Plate fan and as a player, wanted to play the Final in (River’s stadium) El Monumental. With this problem, he’s also said that he’d like to play in such a beautiful stadium and country as Spain. I hope this can become true and that he can become a Madrid player,” Palacios agent’ Renato Corsi told Diario AS.

“Clubs have not talked yet. Madrid are being very classy and honest with us. Both teams agreed to talk after the Final. They will talk about it in Madrid in the upcoming days. There are many teams interested but Madrid have the edge.”

Palacios has won two caps for Argentina and played the full 90 minutes in the first leg 2-2 draw between River and Boca last month.
