Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos believes his side lacked the right attitude against Eibar

Los Blancos captain Sergio Ramos was straight to the point with his criticism after Real Madrid’s humiliating defeat to Eibar.

Four wins while in temporary charge earned Santiago Solari a contract until 2021 over the international break, only for Real to revert to the kind of chaotic display that cost Julen Lopetegui the sack.

This defeat also brought into focus the mindset of Madrid’s players, after Ramos faced allegations of an anti-doping violation on Friday night from German magazine Der Spiegel. Both the club and Ramos have denied any breach.

“We have not been at the appropriate level,” Ramos said to reporters.

“There are no excuses, when you don’t match the rival for desire, attitude and rhythm, this is what happens.”

The 32-year-old insisted the lack of attitude from the players was the main reason behind the poor showing.

“You have to analyse the game and when you don’t have the right attitude, everything is more difficult,” he added.

“Physically we are not in bad shape, it has been a lack of attitude from the players.

“The squad is what it is and has been since the beginning of the season, and we are the ones we are in it.

“I don’t have to do that analysis.”
