Real Madrid received a huge boost ahead of El Clasico on Sunday when defender Marcelo trained on Thursday.

The Brazilian hurt his right ankle during Madrid’s 2-1 win over Viktoria Plzen in the Champions League on Tuesday.

However, according to pictures published on the club website, he trained with his team-mates, playing with the ball without an visible strapping around his foot.

His recovery would be a big news for Los Blancos, who face Barca on Sunday after winning just one of their last six games in all competitions.
