Embattled head coach Julen Lopetegui is set for a potential €18 million pay day if Real Madrid sack him now, according to reports.

Lopetegui, 52, has lost four of his last five games in all competition. This has led to fevered speculation that an exit is imminent for the man who was controversially lured from Spain on the eve of World Cup 2018.

SPORT have stated that a contract worth €6m per season was signed until 2021. Los Blancos would be liable to pay up his entire deal if he is dismissed and does not find alternative employment before the end of his scheduled term.

Ex-Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has been linked strongly with replacing him.
