Julen Lopetegui’s job as Real Madrid manager is hanging on by a thread but defeat in the Clasico could spell doom for the Spaniard.

Speculation is growing that in the event of his dismissal, former midfielder Guti would step into his shoes.

The former Real U-19s coach is being considered for the job, at least as an emergency solution, AS report.

The former Spain international is seen as a candidate similar to Zidane – one who is popular with the players and fans alike.

Guti is currently the assistant at Turkish side Besiktas but his inexperience counts against him.

Santiago Solari, who is in charge of the Castilla side, is also being considered.
