Wales have called up Ipswich winger Gwion Edwards for their Nations League clash with the Republic of Ireland on Tuesday.

The uncapped Edwards joins the squad with Gareth Bale troubled by muscle fatigue and manager Ryan Giggs admitting that the Real Madrid forward is unlikely to play in Dublin.

Ipswich announced Edwards’ call-up on their official website, saying: “The Blues wideman, who signed from Peterborough United in the summer, has impressed so far this term and has now been rewarded with a spot in Ryan Giggs’ squad.”

Bale joined the Wales squad for international duty despite struggling with a niggling injury.
