Chelsea confident they’ll tie down Eden Hazard despite Real Madrid interest

Chelsea are hopeful they will eventually tie star man Eden Hazard down to a new contract despite Real Madrid’s interest, according to reports.

Hazard, 27, has two years left on his current deal and the Blues have failed, thus far, to get him to renew. This situation follows stellar form for club and country – he’s scored seven times in eight 2018/19 Premier League games and was a standout player as Belgium finished third at World Cup 2018.

Speaking after Sunday’s 3-0 win at Southampton, the ex-Lille winger admitted he’s torn between staying put or moving to Santiago Bernabeu.

He said: “Sometimes in my head, I wake up in the morning and think I want to go. Sometimes I think I want to stay.

“It is a hard decision. It is my future. I am 27 and will turn 28 in January.”

Sky Sports stated on Tuesday that the Blues retain belief he’ll choose the former option.
