Real Madrid went down with a whimper in Andulasia.

Real Madrid head coach Julen Lopetegui has laid down the gauntlet to his players ahead of Saturday night’s Derby clash against Atletico Madrid at the Bernabeu.

In midweek, Los Blancos were humbled 3-0 at Sevilla on the same night as Barcelonaalso slipped up at Leganes.

FIFA’s world player of the year Luka Modric has admitted he started this season feeling “completely drained” after Croatia’s run to the World Cup final.

Already named the player of the tournament in Russia and UEFA’s player of the year, the 33-year-old midfielder added the FIFA accolade at a glitzy awards ceremony in London on Monday.

2:26pm – Real Madrid move “unthinkable” says Atletico’s Saul Niguez

Atletico Madrid and Spain midfielder Saul Niguez has labelled a possible move to Real Madrid as “unthinkable”.

Niguez, 23, has emerged as a key player for club and country. This followed a troubled early spell across the city with Los Blancos’ academy, which he departed in 2008 after being bullied.

12:30pm – Dani Carvajal could return for Madrid derby

Carvajal’s possible inclusion against Atletico is a boost after Marcelo was ruled out.

Dani Carvajal could be ready to face Atletico in the Madrid derby on Saturday after coming through training on Thursday.

The Real Madrid right-back picked up an injury during Los Blancos’ Champions League opener against Roma and missed the trip to Sevilla on Wednesday.

11:35am – Bayern Munich plan to make James Rodriguez move permanent

James Rodriguez looks closer to a permanent transfer to Bayern Munich, according to German outlets BILD and Kicker.

The Bavarians plan to exercise their right to purchase the Colombian playmaker, with Rodriguez’s agent Jorge Mendes expected to travel to Munich to meet the board before the end of the year to finalise the €42 million move.

Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas fears the Blues will lose Eden Hazard to Real Madrid next summer if they cannot agree a new contract with their star man.

The 27-year-old Belgium wizard attracted interest from Real in the summer, especially after an excellent World Cup, that he might want a change of scenery from Stamford Bridge.
