1:50am – Mateo Kovacic suggests Real Madrid career is over

Mateo Kovacic has suggested his Real Madrid career is over despite his move to Chelsea being only a season-long loan deal with no option for the Premier League club to make the transfer permanent.

In a tweet, the Croatian midfielder said he had “decided to move on” and that his path was “now separate” from the La Liga side, going onto bid farewell to the fans.

5:19pm – Theo Hernandez joins Real Sociedad on loan for the season

Real Sociedad have announced the signing of defender Theo Hernandez on a season-long loan from Real Madrid.

Following the arrival of new head coach Julen Lopetegui, the Frenchman, 20, has been given the opportunity of more regular first-team football at the Anoeta Stadium.
