Real Madrid will offer star man Luka Modric a sizeable pay rise to guarantee his long-term Los Blancos future, amid speculation Inter Milan are ready to sign the Croatian.

The 32-year-old’s contract runs until 2020 and is worth €8m-per-season, but Whites president Florentino Perez is prepared to give the playmaker a substantial wage increase.

Modric is still viewed as the club’s most important player and is fundamental to Julen Lopetegui’s plans moving forward.

Real are confident he has many more influential years left in the tank and want to secure his services, with Marca reporting a new deal is imminent as Perez meets Modric’s representatives this week.
