James Rodriguez says that the greatest successes of his career so far are “those with Real Madrid“, whom remain his parent club while he’s on a two-year loan spell at Bayern Munich.

The Colombia star fell out of favour under former Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane, leading to his move to Germany last summer, though there’s been some speculation that his loan could be cut short now that Zidane has been replaced by Julen Lopetegui.

While James gave no indication that a return to the Spanish capital is in the offing, he spoke of his three years with Madrid in glowing terms.

“Real Madrid was the club where I scored the most goals, 32 with Porto and 36 in Madrid,” the 27-year-old told Colombia’s The Suso Show.”That isn’t easy, and with 42 assists too.”

James also named former Real colleague Cristiano Ronaldo as the best forward he’d played with, along with Colombia team-mate Radamel Falcao.

The Colombian won a La Liga trophy and back-to-back Champions League titles with Madrid, though he missed out last year when Madrid made it three in a row – beating James’ Bayern in the semi-final.

Addressing the speculation regarding his future, he said he’s set to stay with the Bundesliga champions for now.

“So far, I’m still here and I’ve had a spectacular first season so I’m very happy there and I feel like the club and the fans love me very much.”

James also added that it had been frustrating watching from the stands while Colombia exited the World Cup after a penalty shootout defeat to England in the Round of 16, though he says he’s recovered from the injury that kept him out of that crucial clash.
