Alvaro Odriozola will be the first signing of the Julen Lopetegui era at Real Madrid after the Champions League winners announced they had reached an agreement to sign the fullback from Real Sociedad.

The transfer fee was not disclosed by either club but is thought to be in the region of €40million.

Odriozola, 22, has already previously caught the eye of Lopetegui, who handed the player his first Spain call-up by including him in La Roja’s World Cup squad, although Odriozola did not feature at all at the tournament.

Madrid already have Dani Carvajal and Achraf Hakimi for the right-back position, but decided they could not afford to miss out on this signing, with Odriozola rated as among the best young players in Spain.
