Mauricio Pochettino is widely considered as the favourite to replace Zinedine Zidane as Real Madrid but it is a former Tottenham manager whose name has been thrown into the ring most recently.

Andre Villas-Boas is currently unattached after leaving Shanghai SIPG in November.

The Portuguese who managed Tottenham in the 2012/13 season, has taken part in the Dakar Rally of late having turned down offers from other clubs.

However, RMC believe Villas-Boas has been approached by Madrid with the prospect of becoming their new manager.

The 40-year-old won a quadruple in his only season with Porto and three trophies over two years at Zenit Saint Petersburg.
