Lionel Messi: I never want Real Madrid to win

Lionel Messi has revealed he doesn’t even follow Real Madrid‘s results, but nevertheless, always wants Barcelona‘s eternal rivals to lose.

The Argentine, who is currently preparing for another World Cup bid for his country, claimed the La Liga and Copa del Rey double for Blaugrana last season.

However, the Whites’ Champions League success and Barca’s costly defeat at Levante, ending their unbeaten run, took some of the shine off the season.

Messi, though, insists he has never been focused on Real’s exploits and is only ever concerned with what Barcelona do.

Speaking in an interview with Sport, he said: “I want to win. What the other teams do doesn’t interest me.

“As a Barcelona player, and when we’re not [left] in a competition, I never want our main rival to win. But, first of all, I want to win myself.”
