Deportivo La Coruna midfielder and Real Madrid loanee, Fede Valverde has said that if he had to make a choice between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, he would opt for the Barcelona genius.

The 19-year old, who only recently made his national debut for Uruguay, attended a campus organised by the University of A Coruna in collaboration with Deportivo, and made the comment during a question and answer session with children aged between 4-12.

As quoted by Marca, he then went on to say: “Thank God I have had the opportunity to share with very beautiful and dreamed moments with great players.”

Talking about his journey as a footballer until now, Valverde said: “My career is short and I have played in a few clubs.”

“I made my debut for Penarol when I was 16 years old and it was an unforgettable moment, that marked me for a lifetime.

“At 18 I traveled to Spain to join Madrid and now I am here [at Depor].”

Deportivo are currently in 19th position in La Liga and are in danger of relegation with just nine matches left to play.
