Toni Kroos is likely to miss Real Madrid‘s upcoming games as the club announced the German midfielder has sprained his left knee.

“Following tests carried out on Toni Kroos by the Sanitas Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with a sprain to the exterior lateral ligament in the left knee. His recovery will continue to be assessed,” the club said in a statement.

Kroos likely picked up the sprain during Madrid’s 3-1 win over PSG in the Champions League on Wednesday, in which he played the full 90 minutes.

The club are hoping to have him back for the return leg next month, on March 6. However, at the moment, his status for that game is questionable.

Madrid have five La Liga fixtures between now and then and they will continue to monitor the 28-year-old’s injury for those games.
