Player ratings and round-up as Cristiano Ronaldo bags late Real Madrid winner

Cristiano Ronaldo atoned for a glaring miss by scoring his first LaLiga goal of the season as Real Madrid defeated cross-city rivals Getafe 2-1.

The reigning Spanish champions had gone ahead in the first half when Karim Benzema also opened his account in the division but Getafe levelled in controversial circumstances through Jorge Molina, who looked offside when he struck nine minutes into the second half.

After that Ronaldo, whose five previous goals this term had come in the Champions League or Spanish Super Cup, somehow prodded wide from close range only to make amends with the winner in the 85th minute.

STAR MAN

Benzema. May not have been on the pitch when Real claimed their winner but he took his first-half goal brilliantly and showed excellent link-up play with Ronaldo.

Karim Benzema

IN WITH THE CROWD

One way to sneak past security and go undetected as a pitch invader is to dress up in full Real Madrid kit, as one man did midway through the first half. He managed to grab a chat with an unimpressed Ronaldo before being led away. Even the pitch invader might have scored the second-half chance the Portuguese squandered…

STAT OF THE MATCH

Real have now won 13 successive games away from home in the division – a feat no other team has managed in the history of LaLiga.
