FIFA has announced the final nominees for its annual The Best awards, with Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, and Neymar making up the shortlist for the best men’s player gong.

Real Madrid and Portugal forward Ronaldo is the favourite to capture a second straight title, after his stunning form towards the end of last season which helped Madrid complete a league and European double.

Ronaldo scored 10 goals in the Champions League quarter-finals, semi-finals and final as Madrid became the first side to win two straight European titles in the Champions League era.

While he didn’t finish as the top scorer in La Liga, he scored crucial goals in his team’s title charge, too – with Real Madrid winning their first domestic crown since 2012.
